President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid has received a fresh commitment from APC governors, who have declared that they will not support any alliance or political arrangement capable of threatening his chances in the 2027 general elections.
The decision was disclosed by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, following a closed-door meeting with other APC governors in Abuja on Monday night.
Uzodimma said the governors had reached a unanimous position to remain loyal to the APC and support candidates officially fielded by the party at every level of the 2027 elections.
He explained that the governors would reject any arrangement capable of creating divided loyalty, confusion or competing political interests within the party as preparations for the elections intensify.
The forum chairman maintained that the governors’ campaign commitment would be directed entirely towards APC candidates because they are the candidates officially sponsored by the party.
He further stated that the governors would neither participate in nor endorse political alliances that could weaken the APC or negatively affect the re-election prospects of President Tinubu.
According to Uzodimma, the governors would also not support candidates outside the APC ticket, insisting that their political activities would remain aligned with the party’s official electoral strategy.
He said the APC’s campaign architecture across the country would work according to the expectations of the President and the strategic objectives established by the party.
The declaration comes as political parties and major political figures intensify consultations and possible realignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
With the Progressive Governors Forum now publicly reaffirming its loyalty, the APC governors have signalled that they intend to maintain a united front behind Tinubu and the party’s candidates as the 2027 political battle approaches.
