Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara have held their second meeting under the Rainbow Coalition, with discussions reportedly focused on strengthening their peace deal and aligning their political strategies for the 2027 elections.

The meeting took place behind closed doors on Sunday at Fubara’s private residence in Port Harcourt, with political leaders and supporters from both camps attending as efforts to resolve lingering differences continued.

Wike arrived at about 4:30pm with a delegation that included Kingsley Chinda, the coalition’s governorship candidate, and Senator Magnus Abe, chairman of its Reconciliation Committee. Candidates seeking other elective positions under the coalition were also reportedly among those present.

Sources said the meeting was intended to advance reconciliation, address outstanding disagreements and help the coalition prepare for the forthcoming elections with a common political agenda. However, details of the discussions and any agreements reached were not made public.

One source described the engagement as another opportunity for the two camps to work towards lasting peace and unity in Rivers State, while another said Wike and Fubara were trying to unite their respective supporters.

The meeting followed an earlier engagement on October 6, when Wike also led members of his camp to Fubara’s residence. The latest visit suggests that consultations between the two sides are continuing as the 2027 election approaches.

Wike’s appointment by the APC Presidential Campaign Council as coordinator for Abuja and Rivers State has added another dimension to the ongoing political discussions.

The FCT minister has also been meeting political stakeholders across Rivers State as he mobilises support for the coalition’s candidates. The discussions are expected to help shape political alignments and campaign arrangements, although it remains unclear what specific concessions or final decisions emerged from Sunday’s meeting.
