The North-Central APC Forum has expressed confidence in Senator Abdulaziz Yari’s ability to mobilise massive support for President Bola Tinubu, backing the former Zamfara governor to deliver victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election.
The group’s position followed Yari’s appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Saleh Zazzaga, the North-Central APC stakeholders described the appointment as a strong strategic choice, citing Yari’s political experience, grassroots network and influence across the northern region.
The forum said Yari commands respect beyond his home state, particularly across the North-East, North-West and North-Central, where it said he has built relationships with political leaders, traditional rulers, religious figures, youths and women.
According to the group, those relationships would be crucial to the APC’s efforts to strengthen Tinubu’s support base as the country approaches the 2027 general election.
The forum also highlighted Yari’s previous roles in party administration and governance, including his tenure as Zamfara State governor and his involvement in the formation of the APC.
It noted that Yari had already been working to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election through the Renewed Hope Network, which he founded to promote the achievements of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The group therefore said his appointment as Director-General of the campaign council came as no surprise, given his alleged commitment and previous mobilisation efforts.
The North-Central stakeholders also threw their support behind James Faleke and Okpokwu Ogenyi, who were appointed Deputy Director-General, Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring, and North-Central Coordinator respectively.
The forum said Faleke’s previous involvement in Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign and Ogenyi’s experience working with Yari had positioned both men to effectively perform their new roles.
It further pledged to work with the campaign council to mobilise support for Tinubu across the North-Central states, announcing a target of six million votes for the President in the region.
The forum said it remained committed to Tinubu’s re-election bid and promised to support the campaign council in achieving its objectives ahead of the 2027 election.
The APC Presidential Campaign Council, unveiled on Saturday, is headed by Tinubu as Chairman, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda serving as Vice Chairmen I and II.
Yari is the Director-General, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma serves as Secretary.
