Former Ekiti PDP governorship candidate, Oluwole Oluyede, is targeting an unprecedented 90 per cent of votes in the state for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, with plans to take his campaign into all 16 local government areas.
Oluyede, who contested the June 20, 2026 governorship election on the PDP platform, said his Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda had already been activated to pursue the target.
The PDP chieftain made the disclosure on Monday in Ado Ekiti after returning from a two-week holiday. He urged politicians and supporters across the PDP, APC and other political tendencies to support his mobilisation effort if they believe in the development of Ekiti State and Nigeria.
He said the 2027 election presented an opportunity to consolidate reforms and development rather than allowing the country to repeatedly return to the beginning of the process every four years. Oluyede therefore declared his support for Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
According to him, Nigeria needs continuity to enable reforms to mature, arguing that President Tinubu deserves the opportunity to consolidate the process his administration has started.
Oluyede said his mobilisation campaign would be driven from the grassroots, with his political structure taking the message directly to residents across communities, wards and households. He said voters would be given reasons to support the President and allowed to make their decisions based on the information presented to them.
He described the 90 per cent target as ambitious but achievable, stressing that his organisation would work towards winning the support of 90 per cent of registered voters in Ekiti. He added that the campaign would not be limited to electoral victory but would seek to create stronger political relationships among different groups in the state.
The PDP chieftain said he was willing to cooperate with Governor Biodun Oyebanji and other stakeholders to achieve the target. He maintained that political differences should not prevent individuals and groups from working together where they share a common interest in the progress of Ekiti and Nigeria.
Oluyede also rejected claims that his absence from the political scene after the governorship election meant he had abandoned politics. He explained that he travelled after completing a series of consultations and political engagements because he needed time to rest following what he described as a demanding election period.
He said the period away also enabled him to reflect on political developments and consider ways of building cooperation beyond party lines. According to him, some of his consultations were specifically aimed at bringing PDP and APC members together to focus on what would be beneficial to Nigeria and Ekiti.
The former PDP candidate disclosed that he had met with President Tinubu following the election after accepting what he described as a fatherly invitation. He said their discussion was meaningful and resulted in an understanding that they should work together towards the 2027 election.
Oluyede insisted that his engagement with Tinubu did not amount to abandoning his political identity, saying his priority was to place Nigeria and the interests of the people above partisan considerations.
He also disclosed that he held a meeting with Governor Oyebanji, describing their discussion as frank and constructive. According to him, both men agreed that regardless of their political backgrounds, they needed to work together on issues affecting the development and future of Ekiti State.
Oluyede said he would now deploy the OPARHA structure across the state’s 16 local government areas and 177 wards as the grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid gathers momentum.
