Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has declared that the state will back the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Kefas spoke on Wednesday after meeting Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, saying residents had been benefiting from Federal Government interventions across several sectors.

The governor, who identified himself as the APC leader in Taraba, said federal support for the state had strengthened confidence in the President’s administration.

He listed security, education, healthcare and infrastructure among the areas where he said Taraba residents were feeling the impact of the Federal Government’s interventions.

“You can see that I’m on the ground; we’re in charge. All the intervention, all the support from the President, the people are feeling it,” Kefas said.

He said the cooperation between his administration and the Federal Government had helped deliver programmes that residents could see and benefit from.

According to Kefas, residents had assured him that they would support Tinubu during the 2027 election.

“So, the people have no doubt, and they’ve given all the assurance that Mr President is reaching out to them through me, and for that reason, they are going to vote for Mr President,” he said.

Kefas subsequently declared: “Taraba State is for APC 100 per cent.”

The governor also explained that he visited the President to welcome him back to Abuja and express condolences over the recent Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State.

He described the crash and the deaths of military personnel and other citizens as a tragedy for the country.

Kefas’ declaration follows his January 2026 defection from the PDP to the APC. At the time, he was joined by members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, state executive council members, local government chairmen and other political appointees.
