Senate President Godswill Akpabio has promised Nigerian workers meaningful reforms, saying the Senate will introduce laws to improve wages, protect jobs, and ease the growing economic pressure many citizens face.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has sent a strong message of reassurance to Nigerian workers, promising that lawmakers will take concrete steps to improve their welfare through targeted legislation.

Speaking in celebration of Workers’ Day, Akpabio commended millions of Nigerians whose daily efforts keep the nation moving despite economic and workplace challenges.

He described workers as the backbone of the country, recognising the sacrifices made by individuals across different sectors, from education and healthcare to agriculture and security.

Akpabio did not ignore the struggles many Nigerians face, especially the rising cost of living and demanding work conditions that continue to affect their quality of life.

He assured workers that the Senate is determined to respond with policies that will deliver better pay, safer working environments, and more job opportunities.

According to him, recent actions such as the revised minimum wage and welfare programmes reflect ongoing efforts to bring relief to workers across the country.

The Senate President also urged employers to prioritise the wellbeing of their staff, warning that neglecting workers could weaken productivity and slow national development.

He acknowledged the role of labour unions in maintaining dialogue and stability, promising that the government will sustain collaboration with them moving forward.

Akpabio ended his message by encouraging workers to remain hopeful, assuring them that the government will continue working towards a future where their efforts are properly rewarded.
