Senate President Godswill Akpabio says Nigeria can defeat insecurity if citizens remain united in prayer and resilience, while urging that those financing terrorism be identified and exposed.

Speaking at a Democracy Day church service in Abuja, Akpabio said Nigeria had repeatedly overcome major national challenges and would emerge stronger from its current security difficulties.

The event, themed “God of Hope, Actualise Our Dreams,” brought together government officials and worshippers to mark 27 years of uninterrupted democratic rule in the country.

The Senate President recounted how he launched monthly prayer gatherings while serving as governor of Akwa Ibom State as part of efforts to address rising incidents of kidnapping, militancy and violent crimes.

He maintained that continued prayers and collective action would help expose those behind insecurity, whether they occupy public offices or operate outside government circles.

Akpabio also sympathised with victims of abductions and violent attacks, saying the suffering experienced by affected families remains a painful reality that demands urgent attention.

While expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future, he assured citizens that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government would continue efforts aimed at improving security and bringing abducted persons back to their families.
