A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered that Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, 38, be remanded in Kuje prison over allegations that he falsely presented himself as Director General of the PFIPC.
Justice Mohammed Umar gave the order on Wednesday after Adeniyi was brought before the court to face an eight-count charge.
The charges filed against him centre on alleged conspiracy and forgery.
Adeniyi pleaded not guilty to the eight counts, thereby denying the allegations against him.
He was charged alongside two other individuals identified as Femi and Anu, whose full surnames were not provided in the court report.
The two other defendants, however, are currently at large and were not available before the court for the proceedings.
After Adeniyi’s plea, Justice Umar ordered that he be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
The court directed that he remain in custody pending the hearing and determination of his bail application.
The remand order does not amount to a finding of guilt, as the allegations against Adeniyi are still before the court for determination.
Further proceedings in the case are expected to determine the next stage of the prosecution and Adeniyi’s bail request.
