The Independent National Electoral Commission has reinstated David Mark as ADC chairman after a Supreme Court ruling overturned earlier restrictions tied to the party’s leadership dispute.

A check on the commission’s portal confirmed that Mark now appears again as the party’s national chairman, alongside other members of the National Working Committee.

Among those reinstated is Rauf Aregbesola, who resumes his role as national secretary, along with key officers responsible for finance, treasury, and legal affairs.

INEC had earlier removed the names in April, following a directive from the Court of Appeal, which ordered parties to maintain the existing situation pending further legal review.

That decision triggered protests from the Mark-led faction and several political figures, who challenged the move in court.

However, the Supreme Court stepped in and voided the appellate court’s order, declaring that it could no longer stand after the matter had progressed.

The apex court also upheld the appeal filed by Mark’s camp and directed that the substantive case before the Federal High Court should proceed without delay.

Following the judgment, INEC updated its records, effectively restoring the leadership and clearing a major obstacle that had threatened the party’s structure. The Mark-led faction has welcomed the development, describing it as a victory for due process, even as the main legal dispute over the party’s leadership continues in court
