Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has fired back at Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo following his mockery of Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke’s dancing style, with the singer sharing what appeared to be Okpebholo’s WAEC result on his Instagram Story.
Davido appeared to hit back by sharing what was alleged to be Okpebholo’s West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result on his Instagram Story on Friday. The singer posted the document without any caption or explanation.
The move came shortly after Okpebholo criticised Adeleke’s leadership style during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Osun State, where he mocked the governor’s frequent dancing and questioned whether residents were satisfied with his approach to governance.
At the rally held in support of APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, Okpebholo claimed Adeleke would dance before signing official documents, eating breakfast or even taking tea, asking if the Osun governor was not tired of dancing.
Davido, who has actively supported his uncle’s re-election campaign ahead of the August 15 Osun governorship election, appeared to redirect attention to Okpebholo’s academic record. Although he did not mention the Edo governor by name or explain the post, the timing led many to interpret it as a response to the governor’s comments.
The exchange has intensified the political battle ahead of the Osun election, extending the rivalry beyond campaign rallies to social media, where Davido commands a large following. The singer has also called for a peaceful and credible election as political campaigns become increasingly heated.
