A coalition led by Femi Falana, Falz and several civic organisations has announced a nationwide June 12 protest, urging Nigerians to demand action over the country’s security and economic
Among those backing the demonstration are Femi Falana, Falz, the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, Joint Action Front, Youth Rights Campaign and several other advocacy groups.
The coalition said continued attacks by terrorists, bandits and kidnappers have left many communities exposed, while thousands of families remain affected by abductions and violent crimes.
It criticised official claims that insecurity is declining, arguing that citizens continue to face danger in their communities, schools and on major roads across the country.
The organisers also expressed concern over the economic situation, saying rising inflation and shrinking purchasing power have worsened the burden on ordinary Nigerians.
They maintained that policies such as fuel subsidy removal, naira devaluation and higher electricity tariffs have increased living costs and placed additional pressure on households and businesses.
According to the coalition, the planned protest forms part of efforts to push authorities to address insecurity and review policies that have contributed to widespread hardship.
The groups urged workers, youths, artisans, market women, students and community organisations to join the nationwide action, insisting that Nigerians must collectively demand security, economic stability and a better quality of life.
