The Federal Government has brought new amended charges against former AGF Abubakar Malami and his son, Abdulaziz Abubakar Malami, accusing them of offences tied to terrorism and unlawful arms possession.

At the Federal High Court in Abuja, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik presided over the fresh arraignment after the prosecution replaced the earlier charge with a revised five-count filing.

Prosecuting counsel Akinlolu Kehinde told the court that the updated charge had been served on the defendants ahead of the hearing.

The defence team acknowledged receipt and did not oppose the amendment, allowing the court to discard the previous charge and proceed with the new one.

Malami and his son denied all allegations when the charges were read to them.

Their counsel requested that the court maintain the bail conditions earlier granted, which the judge approved without resistance from the prosecution.

The case was adjourned to May 26 for trial to begin, with the prosecution expected to call witnesses and present evidence.

The charges include allegations of possessing firearms and ammunition without authorisation, as well as actions prosecutors claim relate to preparations for terrorism offences.
