The Federal Government says it remains committed to defeating insecurity and easing economic hardship, insisting that Nigeria will never give in to terrorists, bandits or criminal intimidation.
The message was delivered by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, during a Democracy Day church service at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.
Akume described Nigeria’s 27 years of uninterrupted democratic rule as a significant achievement, paying tribute to those who sacrificed for the return and survival of democratic governance.
While recognising the impact of insecurity, kidnappings and economic difficulties on citizens, he said the government understands the concerns of Nigerians and remains committed to addressing them.
The SGF stated that the administration would continue working towards the rescue of abducted persons while strengthening the capacity of security agencies to tackle threats across the country.
He maintained that the government would not be intimidated by criminal groups and reiterated its resolve to safeguard lives and property.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Akume appealed to political actors and citizens to embrace peaceful engagement, warning against violence, misinformation, ethnic division and religious intolerance.
