FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has urged political supporters in Rivers State to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, declaring that the president is the only political message he wants to hear from the state ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wike spoke during a meeting in Port Harcourt with supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and youth leaders aligned with the governor.

He said backing Tinubu for a second term could help Rivers State secure more political appointments, attract infrastructure projects and strengthen its position in the country’s political landscape.

The minister maintained that cooperation with the Federal Government would serve the state’s interests, urging supporters to put aside previous disputes and forgive past mistakes in the interest of political unity.

“Politics is about figuring out where the state stands to gain the most power. Tinubu is the only thing I wish to hear in this state,” he declared.

Wike also suggested that Rivers could gain more political positions if it ranked among the three states recording the highest number of votes for Tinubu.

“If we continue to act the way we are now, and if we are among the first three states to receive the most votes, we will get more of these positions,” he said.

He called on party loyalists, youth groups and community members to focus on supporting Tinubu rather than allowing old disagreements to interfere with the state’s political calculations ahead of 2027.
