Mohammed Bello El-Rufai has raised concerns over the treatment of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai in ICPC custody, accusing the anti corruption agency of violating court approved medical access.

The Kaduna North lawmaker alleged that officials of the commission stopped the former governor’s personal doctor from seeing him during a visit to the detention facility on Thursday.

According to Bello, the doctor arrived around 3pm to review medical test results but was denied access after officials reportedly demanded written clearance from the ICPC chairman.

He maintained that the restriction contradicted a standing court order that granted El-Rufai unrestricted access to his doctors while in custody.

The lawmaker further accused the commission of preventing El-Rufai’s wife from delivering food to him later in the evening because she arrived after the agency’s stated delivery deadline.

Bello described both actions as violations of his father’s constitutional rights, insisting that detention should not prevent access to healthcare and basic welfare.

He called on the ICPC to comply fully with court directives and respect the rights of the former governor as investigations continue.

The commission had not responded to the allegations at the time this report was filed.
