Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule has reacted to Nyesom Wike’s list of APC governors allegedly opposing the Rainbow Coalition, saying he was relieved that his name was not among those mentioned by the FCT minister.

Sule spoke on Tuesday during a TVC interview while commenting on the growing political disagreements surrounding the coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The FCT minister had on Monday identified Imo Governor Hope Uzodimma, Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun as three APC governors he accused of fighting the Rainbow Coalition.

Sule, who was not named by Wike, responded with a light-hearted remark about his exclusion from the list.

“Thank God I’m not on that list,” he said, adding that he felt relieved not to have been identified as one of the APC governors opposing the coalition.

The Nasarawa governor also drew attention to Wike’s political position within the current administration.

According to Sule, Wike is serving as a minister under President Bola Tinubu even though he is not a member of the All Progressives Congress.

“Wike is one of the ministers in this administration, and if he says he wants to support President Tinubu from another party, remember he’s not an APC member,” Sule said.

He further questioned how political alliances should be understood, saying the disagreement may have resulted from a misunderstanding of the message from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.

“What’s the whole essence of an alliance? I think the Governors’ Forum message was misunderstood,” Sule said.

The comments come as political parties and prominent politicians continue to negotiate alliances and realignments ahead of the 2027 presidential and general elections.

Wike has been involved in the emerging political coalition despite his continued role in the Tinubu administration, while several APC governors have publicly maintained their political positions ahead of the next election.

His decision to name Uzodimma, AbdulRazaq and Abiodun as governors opposed to the coalition has now drawn a reaction from Sule, whose name was absent from the list.

The development further highlights the competing political interests and alliances taking shape ahead of the 2027 polls.
