First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has taken a swipe at Nigerians who do not acknowledge what she considers the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, suggesting that they may need special “Bola Tinubu eyeglasses” to see the changes taking place.

Mrs Tinubu made the comment on Friday in Abuja while inaugurating the headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a group working to secure support for the President’s re-election in 2027.

“Things are happening in Nigeria except those who don’t see; maybe we give them Bola Tinubu eyeglasses,” she said, defending her administration’s record before supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The First Lady used the occasion to formally open the campaign headquarters and pray for Tinubu’s victory in the next presidential election.

She declared that the movement would help spread the administration’s message ahead of the 2027 poll, expressing hope that the President would secure another term in office.

Mrs Tinubu also revealed that she hoped to leave Aso Rock by 2031, when she would be able to enjoy life in Nigeria and travel more conveniently.

“I want to leave Aso Rock by 2031 by the grace of God and get to Nigeria where as a 70-something-year-old will enjoy. I want to get to the airport and travel so quickly,” she said.

She pointed to developments at airports as part of the changes she believes are taking place under the current administration.

Beyond campaign rallies, the First Lady said the door-to-door approach was intended to create direct contact with Nigerians and give the party an opportunity to hear their concerns and understand their needs.

She said campaigners should listen to families, young people, older citizens and women while communicating the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and its message of shared prosperity.

Mrs Tinubu urged the movement to explain the administration’s economic reforms and highlight emerging opportunities, especially for young Nigerians looking for jobs.

She added that campaign messages should focus on hope, peace, unity and development, alongside what she described as the administration’s achievements.

The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement was convened by Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, as part of efforts to mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
