Minister of Defence Christopher Musa has pledged that the Federal Government and security agencies will continue working to secure the release of Nigerians held by kidnappers across the country.

Musa made the commitment on Saturday while speaking at the 2026 Southern Kaduna Festival, where he was honoured with the Southern Kaduna Grand Commander Award.

The retired general acknowledged the pain of families whose loved ones remain in captivity and assured them that efforts to rescue the victims are ongoing.

He said the government remains determined to ensure that those abducted regain their freedom despite the security challenges facing the nation.

Musa stressed that defeating insecurity requires cooperation between security agencies and local communities, urging residents to remain vigilant and supportive.

According to him, information supplied by citizens often plays a major role in helping authorities track criminal activities and prevent attacks.

The Defence Minister reiterated that the military and other security institutions remain focused on protecting lives and maintaining peace across the country.

He added that security operations are being intensified in several areas to tackle threats posed by kidnappers and other criminal groups.

Musa also alleged that some individuals within communities provide information and logistical assistance to criminal gangs, making it easier for them to operate.

He therefore urged citizens to expose anyone collaborating with kidnappers and other criminal elements.

Reflecting on the award presented to him, Musa thanked community leaders for the recognition, describing it as a special honour from the people who contributed to his upbringing and success.

His comments come at a time when concerns over kidnapping continue to grow, following recent incidents involving schoolchildren, teachers and other citizens in different parts of the country. The minister expressed confidence that stronger collaboration between communities and security agencies would help improve safety and restore public confidence
