The Nigerian Air Force and the Bank of Agriculture have sealed a fresh partnership to strengthen agricultural production, improve food supply and support economic growth within military farming communities nationwide.
The agreement emerged after top officials of both organisations held discussions on financing, mechanised farming and sustainable agricultural investments for NAF Farms and Agro Allied Services.
As part of the collaboration, the Bank of Agriculture will support military farming projects with low interest funding for quality seedlings, fertilisers, crop protection chemicals and other agricultural materials.
The partnership also covers the supply of modern farming machinery including tractors, irrigation facilities, harvesters and processing equipment to boost production and strengthen food supply chains.
Officials disclosed that repayment structures would be designed around harvest periods to allow beneficiaries repay loans without disrupting farming operations.
The Air Force said the initiative would help utilise military land for large scale agriculture while creating opportunities for serving personnel, retired officers and families involved in farming businesses.
According to officials, the programme aligns with the Federal Government’s broader efforts to address food shortages, promote economic inclusion and reduce insecurity through sustainable development initiatives.
