Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has renewed criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the continued detention of abducted pupils and teachers from Oyo State, insisting that authorities must focus on rescuing the victims instead of political activities and celebrations

Speaking through a statement released on Friday, Atiku said the Federal Government must show greater urgency in addressing the situation as families of the victims continue to wait anxiously for their return.

The former vice president questioned what he described as a disconnect between the suffering of affected families and the public activities of government officials.

He also challenged the response of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, arguing that Nigerians expected stronger advocacy and concern from the country’s foremost mother figure.

Atiku said the ongoing captivity of the children should remain a national priority until every victim is rescued and reunited with loved ones.

The ADC presidential candidate further criticised what he described as excessive political celebrations at a time many Nigerians are battling insecurity and economic hardship.

He warned that failure to tackle repeated kidnappings decisively could embolden criminal groups and weaken public confidence in government institutions.

The former vice president called on security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and ensure those behind the abduction face the full weight of the law.
