Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoleye Sowore has issued an ultimatum to the Federal Government, threatening to lead protesters to Aso Rock if the kidnapped Oyo schoolchildren are not rescued.
Sowore made the declaration in a post on X, where he criticized the government’s response to the kidnapping and demanded immediate action from security authorities.
The activist said President Bola Tinubu and the nation’s security chiefs must urgently locate and free the abducted children along with other victims of kidnapping across the country.
He warned that citizens may be forced to take their grievances directly to the seat of power if authorities fail to produce results within days.
According to Sowore, the continued detention of innocent children by armed criminals highlights the growing insecurity confronting many communities.
The victims were kidnapped on May 15 after gunmen reportedly attacked schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Reports indicate that at least 45 schoolchildren and teachers were taken away during the assault, while an assistant head teacher and a commercial motorcyclist lost their lives.
The incident has continued to generate concern among residents and stakeholders, with many demanding stronger security measures and a swift rescue mission.
Sowore insisted that government officials must demonstrate greater urgency in tackling the crisis, stressing that Nigerians expect concrete action rather than assurances.
