Oyo PDP-Visionaries has alleged that the APC is backing moves to remove Governor Seyi Makinde from office through impeachment in Oyo State.

The group made the claim in Ibadan, warning that such actions could threaten the stability currently enjoyed in the state.

Its coordinator, Qudus Olayide, said reports of attempts to sway members of the State Assembly suggest a deliberate effort to undermine the governor’s administration.

He insisted that the alleged move would fail, stressing that the people of Oyo State would stand against any attempt to create political tension.

According to him, the state has progressed beyond an era where political manipulation could easily succeed.

The group also criticised individuals it believes are driving the plan, accusing them of acting out of personal interest rather than public good.

It referenced earlier comments from opposition figures as further indication that the impeachment narrative may not be accidental.

While noting that some stakeholders have distanced themselves from the issue, the group said the opposition still owes the public clarity.

It also urged traditional leaders to stay above politics to preserve the integrity of their institutions.

The group concluded by assuring that public support for Makinde remains strong and would block any attempt to destabilise the state.
