A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Saleh Zazzaga, has alleged that the Plateau killings are politically driven, claiming the violence is a calculated attempt to weaken Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of 2027.

Speaking after the deadly Palm Sunday attack that left over 20 people dead in Jos, Zazzaga claimed the bloodshed is aimed at weakening President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, the North-Central is a key voting bloc for the APC, and those behind the attacks are deliberately targeting communities to shrink the voting population and disrupt expected electoral gains.

He went further, alleging that the violence is also designed to tarnish the image of Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, especially following his reported political realignment.

Zazzaga warned that what is happening in Plateau and neighbouring Benue State could spiral into a larger crisis if not urgently addressed.

He also raised concerns over inflammatory comments from some religious leaders, cautioning that such statements could further fuel the violence.

While praising Tinubu for visiting the state after the attack, Zazzaga insisted that security agencies must act decisively — not just to stop the killings, but to uncover what he described as the political forces behind them.
