Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has credited President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms with helping states undertake major development projects while meeting salary and pension obligations without relying on fresh loans.

Radda made the assertion in Katsina on Sunday during the Tinubu/Dikko Assured 2027 Islamiyya Teachers’ Empowerment Programme, alongside the inauguration of a school and 45 solar-powered streetlights.

The governor said Katsina had executed projects valued at more than N30bn without borrowing, presenting the figure as evidence that his administration was managing the state’s resources prudently while still delivering infrastructure and other interventions.

Radda said the state was currently paying workers’ salaries and pensions and meeting its obligations without taking loans to execute projects. He recalled that Katsina had previously depended on borrowing to meet salary obligations.

“Today, there is no sector where we are taking a loan to execute a single project in Katsina State,” Radda said, adding that his administration was also meeting its obligations to pensioners and other residents.

The governor linked the improved financial position of states to Tinubu’s reforms and support, particularly the financial autonomy of local governments. He maintained that the performance of leaders should be judged by measurable results rather than political arguments and negative narratives.

Radda also appealed to citizens, private organisations and philanthropists to complement government efforts, saying the scale of development required across communities could not be achieved by government alone.

He cautioned against misinformation and challenged politicians seeking public office to move beyond criticism by presenting clear and practical plans capable of addressing the problems confronting the people.

Former Katsina governor Aminu Masari, who also spoke at the event, backed both Tinubu and Radda, saying political leaders should focus on improving the welfare and development of citizens.

Masari said those who refused to recognise what he described as the achievements of the President and Katsina governor were being hypocritical. He pointed to Federal Government infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and other strategic roads, as investments capable of stimulating economic activities and supporting agriculture.

He further highlighted the Kaduna-Abuja Road improvements, while Umar Zayyad, Director-General of Tinubu/Dikko Assured, said the organisation had expanded its programmes to support Islamiyya teachers and other beneficiaries.

Zayyad also recalled Tinubu’s positive assessment of Radda’s administration during the President’s visit to Katsina and urged residents to continue supporting development initiatives in the state.
