Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has predicted a decisive victory for himself and the All Progressives Congress in the January 16, 2027, Kogi Central senatorial election, where he is expected to challenge Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Bello expressed confidence in his electoral prospects during an appearance on TVC’s *Sunday Politics*, saying the election date was approaching and that the results would demonstrate his strength at the polls.

“16 January 2027 is around the corner, the result will speak for itself,” he said.

The former governor predicted that the election would produce massive votes and a decisive victory for him and the APC.

The anticipated contest would pit Bello, who is seeking the seat on the APC platform, against Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Their political relationship has been tense, with previous exchanges involving allegations of political violence, defamation and legal disputes.

In October 2022, Bello accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of involvement in the Ajaokuta massacre and the Kuje prison break. The senator denied the allegations, saying she was in the United States at the time for pregnancy-related reasons and childbirth.

In response to the accusations, Akpoti-Uduaghan described Bello as a “murderer, serial killer, and a terror to the people of Kogi State” on November 4, 2022.

Bello’s latest prediction adds another chapter to the rivalry as the 2027 election approaches. Whether his forecast will be reflected in the final result remains to be decided by voters in Kogi Central.
