Nigeria is turning to technology in its fight against bloodshed as Bola Tinubu orders the deployment of 5,000 AI-powered CCTV cameras across Plateau following the gruesome killings in Jos.

The move comes days after gunmen struck Angwan Rukuba in Jos North, leaving at least 28 people dead and several others injured.

Visiting Jos, Tinubu vowed that the killers would be hunted down, declaring that security agencies must act swiftly to bring justice.

He directed security chiefs, including Christopher Musa and Olatunji Disu, to intensify operations, while Bosun Tijani was tasked with fast-tracking the installation of the surveillance system.

The cameras, powered by artificial intelligence, will first be deployed in Jos before spreading across Plateau, in what signals a major shift toward tech-driven security.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang described the attack as a painful disruption to the state’s peace but expressed hope that the new measures would prevent further bloodshed.
