President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Nigeria’s top security chiefs to relocate to Borno State following deadly bomb attacks in Maiduguri.
The explosions, which occurred on Monday evening, affected areas including the Monday Market, Post Office Flyover, and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital gate.
The attacks left at least 23 people dead and more than 100 others injured.
In a statement, the president expressed sympathy to victims and their families, describing the incident as deeply upsetting.
He said the attacks were carried out by insurgents attempting to create fear despite ongoing military pressure.
Tinubu directed security chiefs to take charge of operations in Maiduguri and ensure that the situation is brought under control.
He also ordered that victims receive proper medical attention.
Security operatives were deployed to the affected areas, which have since been secured.
Emergency agencies, including the National Emergency Management Agency, evacuated victims and supported rescue efforts.
Authorities say security has been strengthened across Maiduguri, while investigations and operations continue.
