Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has expressed confidence that the state is ready for state police, saying it has the manpower and institutional capacity to successfully operate the proposed security system once legal approval is granted.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Inter-Agencies Task Force on Drug Abuse and Trafficking in Kano, Yusuf said the proposed policing system would complement the Nigeria Police Force in tackling insecurity.

He noted that state police would improve intelligence gathering, strengthen community policing and enhance responses to security threats.

The governor said Kano has the manpower, institutional capacity and political commitment needed to sustain the system once the required constitutional amendments are completed.

Yusuf also reaffirmed his administration’s support for measures aimed at improving Nigeria’s security framework.

He described the inauguration of the anti-drug task force as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration among security agencies in addressing drug abuse and trafficking. The governor urged members of the committee to carry out their duties with integrity and professionalism
