FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says the Federal Capital Territory will protect genuine investors while taking firm action against land speculators and developers who violate planning regulations, as efforts intensify to attract more investment into Abuja.

Speaking at the Abuja Business and Investment Expo 3.0 on Wednesday, Wike declared that Abuja is ready for investment partnerships with individuals and organisations that possess the financial capacity, technical expertise and integrity to deliver quality projects.

He said the administration’s ongoing infrastructure development and reforms in land administration are positioning the capital city as one of Nigeria’s most attractive investment destinations.

According to the minister, government will continue investing in roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, water supply and other public infrastructure needed to support business growth and improve investor confidence.

Wike stressed that ease of doing business does not mean the absence of regulation, insisting that all developers must comply with the Abuja Master Plan, environmental laws and other statutory requirements.

He warned that the administration would not protect land speculators, fraudulent developers or businesses that disregard established regulations, adding that only genuine investors would enjoy government support.

The minister also noted that the FCT’s fourth-place ranking in the 2025 Ease of Doing Business Assessment demonstrates that reforms are yielding results, although the administration aims to become the country’s leading investment destination.

He further encouraged investors to explore opportunities in key sectors including housing, agriculture, healthcare, transportation, technology, renewable energy, tourism and urban infrastructure.
