A heavy rainstorm has caused significant damage to the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja, a project inaugurated by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, barely nine months after its completion.

The force of the wind reportedly tore off the roof of the structure, leaving parts of the facility exposed and unusable.

Debris from the damaged terminal spilled onto the Nyanya–Keffi Expressway, triggering heavy traffic gridlock in the area.

Commuters were left stranded for hours as vehicles struggled to move through the affected corridor during evening rush hour.

Sources indicated that the terminal had not commenced operations prior to the incident.

Cleanup efforts were initiated shortly after the damage, with officials working to remove obstructing materials from the roadway.

The incident has sparked questions about the durability of the facility and the quality of construction of public infrastructure projects in the capital.
